Lessons from Auntie Oprah

Last month, I had the most incredible experience attending a Fireside Chat with Oprah Winfrey, one of the most recognizable and respected global icons of our time. Her presence was magnetic, but it was her wisdom, deep reflection, and inspiration that left the most profound impact on me.

In listening to her speak, I was reminded of the importance of being wise with both my time and my experiences. She emphasized the value of intentionality—how we must treat time as sacred and ensure our experiences align with our values and purpose. Her words challenged me to not just be busy, but to be purposeful.

She also spoke about the art of showing up—not just physically, but emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. There’s something powerful about being fully present in the moment, engaging deeply, and allowing yourself to be seen and to see others. That kind of presence is a gift—to ourselves and those around us.

Auntie Oprah shared a powerful warning: never collaborate with bad actors. Protect your name, your integrity, and your peace. Everyone and everything that seeks to partner with you is not always aligned with your mission—and discernment is key.

But what resonated most was her steadfast commitment to humility and service. “The mission is always to serve,” she said—and I felt that. No matter how far you rise or how many platforms you touch, staying grounded in service is what sustains true impact. Humility isn’t weakness—it’s strength wrapped in purpose.

Her parting words will stay with me forever: “Always be you and do you well. Remember God in everything. You are who you believe yourself to be.”
A gentle reminder that faith, authenticity, and belief in oneself are the cornerstones of a meaningful life.

I left that evening renewed, reminded, and ready—to live wisely, serve humbly, and rise fully as myself.

Thanks Auntie O for the little nudge of inspiration to keep this girl going :)

With the deepest admiration,

C-
